Manchester United Join Transfer Race To Sign Experienced Italian Defender

Chelsea and Man United expressing interest in world-class defender ahead of summer windowChelsea, Manchester City and Manchester City are all set to battle for Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci ahead of a busy summer transfer window, according to reports.

The 29-year-old has been a solid figure at the Serie A giants and have also been regarded as one of the best defenders in Europe, drawing transfer interest from several clubs with Premier League leading the race to sign him.

Reports in the Daily Telegraph have it that Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all vying for Bonucci’s signature, with suggestions that the English clubs are ready to pay significant fee for the Italian defender.

Although it is believed that Juventus are not willing to let Bonucci leave the club this summer but the Premier League clubs are keen on landing the top defender.

It is understood that Antonio Conte and Pep Guardiola are long-term admirers of the Juve centre-back but Chelsea are believed to have identified Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk as an alternative option to Bonucci.

While Jose Mourinho is also expected to bring in several reinforcements next summer and will move for the experienced defender who has made over 300 appearances for Juve since he joined them in 2010 from lower Italian side, Bari.
