Manchester United have had a £70 million bid rejected for Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata, according to reports.

The Red Devils have prioritised the signing of Morata after failing in their bid to sign Atletico Madrid superstar, Antoine Griezmann due to a transfer ban.

Manchester United have failed in their third bid for the Spaniard with reports that Real Madrid are playing hardball for the striker and have asked United to pay more money despite meeting their initial £70 million asking price.

Reports in  Goal claim that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is asking for £80million before allowing the 24-year-old leave to join United.

Prior reports have it that Morata who is currently holidaying with his new wife,  is expected to arrive in Manchester on Thursday but the latest development in the deal might halt United’s plans of having him present in at their preseason activities in the United States.

His agent and father were pictured at the Santiago Bernabeu earlier this week, sparking suggestions that the duo were at the club to ask for a transfer for Morata in a crunch 50 minutes meeting.

United boss Jose Mourinho is understood to be furious with the club’s vice chairman, Ed Woodward about the slow transfer activity.
