Manchester United are plotting a £10million move for Dutch midfielder Marten De Roon, according to reports.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for several players this summer as Jose Mourinho plans to bolster his squad ahead of another hectic season and has brought in Victor Lindelof from Benfica.

It is understood that the United boss is a keen admirer of De Roon who plays for Middlesbrough and will move for him this summer.

Jose Mourinho is keen on adding a number of targets to strengthen his midfield and he fancy De Roon’s qualities after seeing him churning out solid performances for Boro despite their travails in the Premier League that saw them relegated.

The Portuguese boss had earlier hailed the qualities of the midfielder in March, he said:“Boro have a good team, a solid midfield, this kid De Roon is phenomenal, his work-rate is phenomenal, they’re solid and they play direct. We had to fight it, and I have to admit it was hard for us.”

The 26-year-old who arrived Boro from Atalanta last summer has adapted to the English game and there are reports that Mourinho believes he could be a good cover for Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof.
