Portuguese Club President In Manchester, €40M Star Might Move To Old Trafford Come Summer

Earlier this week when the Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira was spotted in Manchester, it was first said that he would be negotiating the transfer of Ederson to Manchester City.

The president was actually watching Guardiola’s side facing Monaco for the Champions League game, but there was just no way the Portuguese newspapers wouldn’t relate his trip to some transfer business.

However as expected, foremost Portuguese news outlet A Bola claims today that there is one more reason why the official was in England.

The outlet say that Vieira was also meeting those at Manchester United to discuss the sale of the talented right-back Nélson Semedo to the Old Trafford club.

However the Portuguese outlet doesn’t seem to have any other convincing information why the negotiations actually took place, apart from Vieira’s presence in the city.

The other things they claimed are something all of us have been aware for quite some time now. They stated that the Portuguese champions would want at least €40 million to let him go and there is also the competition from Chelsea and Bayern Munich for the star player.

However with a €60 million release clause, Semedo has been very vital for Benfica’s campaigns both in their Portuguese League and in the Champions League too.

It is therefore certain that they won’t make him any cheaper than that.

A Bola added that the Portuguese tactician José Mourinho has few alternatives to Antonio Valencia, and that is why he would simply invest so heavily on another right-back.

It was also added that Mourinho is still interested in signing Nelson’s teammate Victor Lindelof after a January transfer nearly materialised.

Manchester United are presently sitting on the sixth position in the premier league table as Mourinho looks towards ending among the top four at the end of the season to grab a Champions League ticket for his side come next season.
