Liverpool to lure Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera away from Porto

Reports claims Jurgen Klopp is set to land the 26-year-old star as his Kop revolution gets underway with the midfielder on the verge of joining the train to Liverpool.

The reds have already completed a number of deals ahead of the summer transfer window, with Schalke’s Joel Matip and Red Star Belgrade’s Marko Grujic both snapped up earlier this year.

Goalkeeper Loris Karius has also signed up for Klopp’s Kop revolution in a £4.7million deal from Mainz, but the German’s spending won’t stop there.

Southampton ace Sadio Mane is a £40m target for the Reds, while Aston Villa left-back Jordan Amavi is being lined up to replace Alberto Moreno.

Bayern Munich playmaker Mario Gotze is believed to be at the top of Klopp’s wishlist, but the Borussia Dortmund favourite could be set to land a different midfielder instead.

Fox Sports Mexico reporter Garcia understands that Porto’s Herrera will join Liverpool after scoring nine goals and assisting a further four in 29 league appearances this season.

He adds that former club Pachuca will be entitled to 30 per cent of the transfer fee, which has not been revealed, and Herrera could be lining up alongside the likes of Emre Can and Jordan Henderson on Merseyside in the next Premier League campaign.

A move for the Mexico international would almost certainly rule Liverpool out of the running for Sporting Lisbon’s Joao Mario, who is being chased by Chelsea and Manchester United.

And Herrera’s deal could be funded by a potential Anfield exit for Brazilian ace Philippe Coutinho.
