Bruno Fernandes

Liverpool are tipped as favourite to sign Portuguese star Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon in the January transfer market. The 24-year-old striker has been in the best form of his life since his move to his country from Serie A side Sampdoria in 2017.

Fernandes was involved in 36 goals (16 goals and 20 assists) in his first season with the Portuguese giants. This season has been another wonderful one for him as continues to find the back of the net for fun.

Having played 20 games in the League, the 24-year-old has scored 14 goals with nine assists to become one of the leading goalscorers in Europe.

His fine form gave rise to many transfer speculations in the summer but no deal materialized before the end of the transaction period.

The Mirror are reporting that Liverpool are willing to lure the Portuguese star to Anfield despite the arrays of stars in the team.

In the same report, Everton are also said to be interested in Fernandes as Marco Silva wants to improve his team’s attacking threat.

The former Watford manager splashed some cash on strikers, including Theo Walcott, in the summer but he’s unsatisfied with the number of goals they’ve scored so far.

Fernandes joined Lisbon for only €10m with an initial €100m release clause. Meanwhile, the financial crisis rocking the Portuguese side has forced Lisbon’s hierarchy to cut down the player’s price tag to just €40m.
