English Premier League (EPL) giants Liverpool have reportedly submitted an offer for highly rated Brazilian star midfielder Thiago Maia in a bid to ward off the interest of other clubs for the Santos midfielder according to ESPN Brazil.

Thiago Maia was part of the Brazilian Olympic team that won gold medal at the football event for the first time in Rio 2016 Games last year with the influence of Barcelona superstar Neymar, who was the captain of the team.

Thiago Maia played in 21 games for Santos as they finished 2nd in the Brazilian Serie A prompting his manager Dorival Junior to ask for a new contract for his player.

Dorival said: “There’s this kid that’s starting, Thiago, and I’m appealing to his agent to get this deal with Santos. It is a possibility for this kid to grow, he is a promising kid, who is sure to have a very big growth, he will be a top player in Brazilian football. But he needs a longer period, needs stability, and he will only achieve if he has a sequence”

His signing for Liverpool if the deal eventually goes through could provide Jurgen Klopp’s team with a ready made solution to the departure of Senegalese forward Sadio Mane to the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Gabon with his West African country with Thiago Maia able to play in the attacking role in addition to being a defensive midfielder and central midifelder.
