Liverpool will battle with Arsenal for highly-rated 22-year old Belgian goalkeeper Guillaume Hubert, who presently plays for Standard Liege in the Belgian Jupiter League with the Gunners viewing him as the long term successor to current first choice shot stopper Petr Cech, whose contract expires in 2019.

Hubert has been in impressive form for his side having played 33 appearances since his move in 2012 thereby attracting the attention of English heavyweights like Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Gunners have had him watched on numerous occasions including the recent 2-2 draw between Standard Liege and Genk with the goalkeeper getting glowing recommendations from Arsenal scouts.

For Liverpool, their goalkeeping situation has come under a lot of criticism in recent times with the club’s first two goalkeepers namely Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius still largely unconvincing in goal for the Reds and Hubert could be signed as a long term solution to those problems however he is highly inexperienced at the highest level.

Arsenal and Liverpool will surely have to go against each other for the right to Hubert’s signature with both clubs also in the run for the league title with other English heavyweight clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
