Liverpool Plot Summer Move For No.1 Shot-stopper To Solve Goalkeeping Problem

Steve Mandanda

Liverpool are plotting a summer move for Crystal Palace goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, according to reports.

The Reds have not had the best of luck in between the sticks due to the unreliability of the duo of Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet. Reports in French outlet, Telefoot have it that the Reds have identified Mandanda has a viable replacement at Anfield.

Despite being a decent goalkeeper, Mignolet has recorded a number of high-profile mistakes which has costed the Reds some vital points in the Premier League this season while Karius has not been able to blend into the English game although he showed early signs glimpses of quality at the start of the current campaign but his form has dropped due to incessant injuries.

It is understood that Jurgen Klopp is keen on solving Liverpool’s goalkeeping problem at the next transfer window which means one of Mignolet or Karius will leave the club next summer. Although, Klopp has preferred the Belgian shot-stopper over his German counterpart due to his recent impressive form

Mandanda who joined Crystal Palace during the last summer transfer window, has not been able to nail a starting spot since last November due to a niggling knee injury that has kept him out. Sam Allardyce has prefferred Wayne Hennessey to the former Marseille keeper, sparking speculations that Mandanda might return to the French Ligue 1 due to his lack of chances.
