Lorenzo Insigne

Arsenal and Liverpool have been put on red alert as Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne continues to stall on renewing his contract with the Serie A giants.

The Italian attacking midfielder has been touted as one of the best in his position and is currently tied to deal until 2019 but his club are keen on keeping him at the club on a longer term.

Reports in Italian outlet Il Mattino have claimed that the 25-year-old has refused to commit his future to the Serie A side, raising doubts over his future as several clubs in Europe continue to circle over his situation.

It is understood that Insigne is considering a bumper pay rise and better opportunities abroad, with suggestions that Arsenal and Liverpool are monitoring his situation on the Italian.

Liverpool are the front-runners in the deal as Jurgen Klopp is believed to be keen on bringing in viable options to his squad next summer as he hopes to offload Daniel Sturridge and add more depth to the team with the view of playing in the Champions League.

There are also speculations that Bayern Munich, Inter and AC Milan have also registered their interest in Insigne who has scored 16 goals in 42 appearances so far this season.
