Premier League outfits Arsenal and Liverpool are set to miss out on Brazilian youngster Emerson, who plays for Atletico Mineiro in Brazil, as a report via Marca suggest La Liga outfit Real Betis are edging closer to sealing a move for his signature.

The Gunners, who lost Hector Bellerin to nine months injury against Chelsea last week, have been in talks with the youngster since the start of the winter transfer but they couldn’t convince Mineiro to lower their asking price.

The Reds are also said to be considering the prospect of snatching the 20-year-old away from Mineiro’s radar, however, they are far from reaching a deal with the Brazilian club before the end of January.

Meanwhile, Spanish outlet Marca, are suggesting that Real Betis have leapfrogged both teams in the swoop for the youngster. They claimed that Betis’ negotiations with Atletico Mineiro is going on as planned and they are at the ‘later stage of discussion’.

If Marca’s report is anything to go by, the La Liga side will be confirmed as Emerson’s next destination as they will defeat Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool in the race for his signature.

Emerson Aparecido is currently with Brazil U20 side who are taking part in the 2019 South American Youth championship where many clubs have sent their scouts to source for new and unrefined talents.

He is expected to lead the young Sellecao at the back of the pitch so as to avoid conceding many goals throughout the competition.
