Leicester City To Land Wilfried Ndidi Ahead Of Chelsea

English Premier League (EPL) champions Leicester City are reportedly close to sealing a mouth-watering deal for Super Eagles star Wilfried Ndidi from Belgian side Genk ahead of current league leaders Chelsea.

The 19-year old has been a solid performer for Genk since he joined the club thereby attracting the interest of well established European sides like 2012 UEFA Champions League winner Chelsea and English league holders Leicester City.

According to respected Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur, Leicester City have done enough to win his signature ahead of Chelsea with a deal now very close.

If his Leicester City move sees the light of the day, he is expected to be a direct replacement for French midfielder N’Golo Kante, who made a move to Chelsea during the summer.

Claudio Ranieri’s men have struggled to replace the aforementioned Kante with summer signing Mendy injured, fellow midfielders Andy King and Daniel Amartey not living up to expectations. Wilfried Ndidi is full of running and he can bring that energy into the Leicester City midfield just like Kante did in their title-winning season.

Chelsea would be disappointed at Ndidi’s ‘potential’ move to the King Power Stadium as he was seen as a long-term replacement for fellow Nigerian John Mikel Obi and Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who have both been linked with a move away from the club in January.
