Benfica manager Bruno Lage has played down the performance of teen sensation after he netted a hattrick in the 4-2 win over German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.

In his post-match reaction to the treble performance from Joao Felix, Bruno Lage told reporters that the young forward has to be more consistent with his performances for the club.

Portuguese outfit Benfica moved a step closer to the last four of the Europa League following their win over Eintracht Frankfurt in what’s the first leg of their quarterfinal tie.

Both teams meet again in Germany for the second leg next week Thursday and Joao Felix is expected to play a big part to ensure that his team secure a semifinal spot with a last four meeting with either Chelsea or Slavia Prague on the horizon.

Joao Felix made history after his performance against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 19-year-old scored a hattrick against the Germans to become the youngest treble goalscorer in the history of the Europa League.

Joao Felix has been in sensational form for Benfica this season and that has attracted several European clubs including Merseyside giants Liverpool.

Earlier reports claimed that Liverpool had a £61m bid rejected for the young Portuguese attacker.

Other clubs like Juventus, Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also keen on the teen sensation.

Joao Felix has scored 14 goals and also provided four assists for Benfica in 30 games in all competitions.
