Leon Bailey

Reports has it that English Premier League giants Manchester United, are interested in signing Leon Bailey from Genk come January.

The talented winger played a vital role for his Belgian team this season, and contributed to their stride of reaching the last 32 in the Europa League.

Recently, Craig Butler, Leon Bailey‘s father, revealed that though his son could stay in Belgium for the rest of the season, he won’t ruled out the possibility of the teenager moving out next month.

Craig, who also doubles as Leon’s agent, thinks the time is probably right for his son ‘to take on another challenge’, considering the number of top European clubs interested in signing Leon.

“It’s maybe time for him to take on another challenge. English, French and Italian clubs are interested in him and have even made offers but we’re not against him staying at Genk.” He said, as quoted by Het Laatste Nieuws

Bailey initially joined Genk in 2013 but the deal was quickly terminated due to revelations that his stay then in Belgium was illegal. He however returned to Genk in 2015 after clocking 18, shunning offers from big sides like Chelsea and Ajax.

He rose fast and established himself to become an important player in the team due to his superb abilities. Even though his left foot is his favorite, he can still perform well from the right flank.

In the summer transfer window, Ajax offered Genk €11m for the Jamaican youngster, but the Belgian club demanded €20m, though willing for negotiations. Come January, we are looking if United won’t mind spending lots on the 19-year old.
