Hirving Lozano unaware of Manchester United interest

The president of Grupo Pachuca has laughed off talk of Manchester United signing Hirving Lozano and claimed it is simply “not true”.

United were thought to be closing in on the signing of 20-year-old Mexico star after the Pachuca vice-president and the player’s father-in-law, earlier this week, suggested a deal was on the agenda.

“Yes. It’s all done, just missing some details and after the Olympics, the deal will become official,” Lozano’s father-in-law told Futbol Entre Lineas, while the club’s Andre Fassi claimed: “Already there is negotiations with that team [United]? Yes.”

Now however those reports have been dashed by Jesus Martinez, who said that there are no kind of negotiations with the Premier League club.

“They are rumours that sometimes even make you laugh. They do in Manchester, when it is not true, ” Martinez told Univision.

“This institution has always been very serious, when there is something effective, concrete we are the first to alert the player.”

Lozano made four appearances for his country in last month’s Copa America in the United States, where they were knocked out 7-0 by eventual winners Chile.

“It’s nice to hear people talk about a potential move to Manchester United, but it would have been better if it was actually a fact,” he was quoted as saying.

“I don’t know anything about United’s interest. If the club tell me anything, then we will see, but I don’t know about anything at this stage.

“I am at Pachuca now and we will see what happens in the future.”

New United boss Jose Mourinho confirmed at a press conference earlier this week that he had four targets this summer and three of them have already signed – Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The identity of the fourth player Mourinho has on his shopping list is unknown, but Paul Pogba has been heavily linked with £102million move and Blaise Matuidi is believed to have held talks with an unnamed Premier League club.
