Graeme Souness thinks the red devils can challenge for the title this season if they continue their winning streak in the Premier League.
Manchester United slumped down the table ranking when they begin this season’s campaign on a shaky stance. However, Mourinho seem to instilled confidence in his boys, who drastically changed everything. Presently, they have won six Premier League games in a row and in the process, extending their unbeaten run to 13 games.
While speaking earlier this week, former Liverpool midfielder Souness, has insisted that Man United remain contenders for the title this season.
“Manchester United are a big football club and I always feel with them if they can get on a roll and get a bit of momentum and if they get into any run at all it’ll take some stopping,” he commented.
“It’s taken Jose a bit longer than I thought it would have taken him to find out about his players but he’s come up with a system that’s working now and I think you have to include them.
“Ten points appears a lot but you lose a couple of games and you get an injury to a key player or you get a couple of decisions go against you and the whole mood in the camp changes. I’d include all of them [top six] in the frame.”
One would have thought a team winning six games in a role should have gone pass their initial position in the ranks, but this is not yet United’s case. They are still sixth placed, as other teams ahead are avoiding dropping points too.
The game against Liverpool would however change things a lot if United can snatch the full points. Second-placed Liverpool are only gaping them with 5 points which would be reduced should they win. In recent weeks, Manchester United have been impressive.
As things stand now, a slight mistake from any of the five teams ahead would see Mourinho’s men moving it immediately to take a place.
