Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is said to be eyeing a Premier League replacement for Liverpool loanee Ovie Ejaria who has ended his loan spell with the Scottish giants at the halfway stage.

Ovie Ejaria had earlier joined Rangers from Premier League leaders Liverpool on a season-long loan during this summer’s transfer window.

He was a regular fixture in the Rangers team under former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard before he ended his loan deal abruptly at the weekend.

The 21-year-old has returned to his parent club, Liverpool.

Ovie Ejaria made 28 appearances for the Scottish giants in all competitions, including 11 games in Europe.

Steven Gerrard and Rangers are in search of a replacement for the Nigerian-born English winger.

The Scottish Sun reveal that Rangers are looking at Everton midfielder Kieran Dowell as a transfer alternative for Ovie Ejaria.

Dowell has not been able to nail down a starting XI in the Everton team under Marco Silva.

He has made just five appearances for the Merseyside club Everton including two Carabao Cup games.

Kieran Dowell spent last season on loan at English Championship side Nottingham Forest.

Apart from Kieran Dowell, Rangers are also keen on a move for players like Steven Davis (Southampton) and Dominic Solanke (Liverpool).
