The Blues have made a £21.3 million bid to sign Atlanta midfielder Franck Kessie.
Reports in France claim that Chelsea are seriously in for the 20-year-old midfielder who already had talks with Manchester United last week, as Conte look to bring in reinforcements in squad after losing Oscar to China, while Mikel is also keen on leaving the Bridge in January.
Kessie has been a key figure for his side who currently sit sixth in the Serie A, scoring six goals for Atlanta in 16 league matches so far this season.
The 20-year-old box-to-box midfielder has been monitored by a host of clubs due to his strong and effective displays in the Serie A which has seen his club climb within Champions League qualification spot.
According to France Football, Chelsea are keen on bringing him to the Premier League as they look to build on their early success in the league.
However, Conte will have to ward interest from Serie A giants, Juventus who are also keen on landing the midfielder during January transfer window.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was said to have held talks with Kessie on phone but Chelsea will hope to lure him to the Bridge with their current league standing.
