Fans of North London side Tottenham Hotspurs got an early Christmas present after news broke that their star man Harry Kane has signed a new deal until 2022 with a reported £100,000 weekly wages to make him one of the highest earners at the club.

The 23-year old striker is the latest Tottenham player to pen a new deal at White Hart Lane this season following the likes of Eric Dier, Kyle Walker and Dele Alli.

Kane, who had been previously linked with 20-time English champions Manchester United as per a report from popular outlet ESPN, has grown to be one of the key men at his club since breaking into the first team during the 2014/15 season culminating in 51 league goals.

He also emerged as the highest goalscorer in the English Premier League (EPL) last season with 25 goals.

Some Tottenham fans on hearing the latest development took to Twitter to celebrate Kane, who will be hoping he can mark the news of his contract in style when his side welcome Welsh side Swansea City to White Hart Lane at the weekend. He was labelled as their hero by some of the fans:

@gloryglorythfc1 tweeted: “Harry Kane…showing his true love for his club by signing new contract. A true leader and so proud he is one of our own. Hero. Legend. Loyal.”
