Jose Mourinhos has ordered Manchester United to buy Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder Eric Dier for a £40 million, according to reports.

The English midfielder is believed to be unhappy at his central defence at Spurs despite being a natural midfielder, sparking speculation that he wants to leave the club this summer and United being a likely destination.

Reports in The Daily Mirror claims that the Red Devils have started efforts to lure Dier to the Old Trafford this summer with reports that Jose Mourinho is keen on landing the 23-year-old for £40million.

The midfielder recently penned a new deal at the White Hart Lane, which is worth £50,000 per week, but a chance to play for the Red Devils may be irresistible despite being tied to a long-term deal at his current club.

It is understood that Mourinho is ready to offer Dier the opportunity to play as a central midfielder at the Old Trafford as a potential replacement for Michael Carrick who is set to leave United at the end of the season.

Although, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has maintained that he will not be sanctioning sales of players this season, even when offered better deals elsewhere. But Kyle Walker has also been touted to leave the club this summer after failing out of favour with Mauricio Pochettino
