Former Chelsea defender Mario Melchiot has predicted that star player Eden Hazard will leave the club when the transfer window reopens this summer.

The Blues talisman has been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid who are keen to replace former player Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid have not been able to sign a direct replacement for the aforementioned Ronaldo who’s the leading goalscorer in their illustrious history.

Ronaldo left Real Madrid for Italian champions Juventus last summer and Eden Hazard has been touted as his possible replacement at Real Madrid.

Hazard has always talked about a possible Real Madrid transfer in addition to the fact that the Belgian has confirmed that Los Merengues manager Zinedine Zidane is his football idol.

Mario Melchiot is a former right-back at Chelsea and he spoke about his former club in a chat with the Daily Star.

He believes that Chelsea will struggle to keep Eden Hazard at the club with the Blues not matching his ambitions.

Hazard wants to win trophies but Chelsea might not be able to give him that.

The Belgian international came off the bench on Sunday evening to help Chelsea turn the game around against relegation threatened Cardiff City.

The Blues closed in on a top-four spot with a 2-1 win over the Welsh team.
