David Luiz

Chelsea defender David Luiz is in talks with the club over the signing of a new deal that will see him stay at the club beyond this summer.

The news of his contract talks was confirmed by Blues boss Maurizio Sarri during his post-match press conference after the Europa League clash with Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night.

According to him, David Luiz has been in contract talks with the Chelsea hierarchy this week.

Brazilian international David Luiz might leave Chelsea this summer with his contract expected to expire when the current season runs out.

David Luiz is in his second spell at Chelsea having returned to the club in the summer of 2016.

The Brazilian centre back signed a three-year contract when he joined the club then and that contract will expire this summer.

David Luiz recently talked about how he’s enjoying his football under Maurizio Sarri and that he likes the style of play employed by the Italian tactician.

The Brazilian has formed a potent centre back partnership with Antonio Rudiger at Chelsea this season though German defender Rudiger won’t play for the Blues again this season due to the injury he sustained in the league clash at Manchester United.

Antonio Rudiger will miss the rest of the season with the knee injury sustained against the Red Devils.
