Deal Close – Arsenal To Agree Star Signing After His Club Lowered His Fee

Kostas Manolas

Arsenal signed a top class defender last summer in the person of Shkodran Mustafi and the German star has been fantastic for the North London club so far this season.

The Gunners still seeks to strengthen their back line by signing a long term replacement for defender Per Mertesacker. Kostas Manolas is back in the lime light once again.

An Italian football journalist Emanuele Giulianell reported that Arsenal are close to signing the Greek international after they’ve agreed terms of contract with him.

The 25-year-old defender is regarded as one of the best central defenders in the Serie A, and so Arsene Wenger should be expecting to bring out lots of money from his coffers.

Giulianelli also covered an exclusive report earlier this month for The Sun where he claimed that Man United boss Jose Mourinho is ready to spend big and sign Manolas – but the Italian club are refusing to lower their asking price of £52million.

However, it is now said that Roma will now allow the former AEK Athens center half to join Arsenal at the end of this season for a fee of £47 million.

If Wenger should pay £47 Million to bring Manolas in, then the player would become Arsenal’s new record signing as the current record signing Mesut Ozil, was bought for a fee of £42.4 million.

This season so far, Kostas has featured in 23 games and provided one assist in the process.
