Deal almost done as £60 million rated defender ready to sign for Liverpool

According to latest reports, Liverpool are set to pay Premier League side Southampton a whopping £60M for Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk.

The twenty-six years-old, who has been one of Jurgen Klopp’s prime summer targets, has been the subject of big rumours which has caused both clubs to fall out in dramatic situations.

The Saints reported the Reds for making an illegal approach for the defender which in turn, led to Liverpool issuing an apology stating that they would end their interest in the star player.

That was not the end of the transfer story; however, the Dutchman himself has his heart set on a transfer to the Merseyside club, and in an exclusive today, the Sun claims that the defender may even consider submitting a transfer request to force a move away from the club.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to make a big impression on the current transfer market, and the Liverpool tactician must have feared that he had lost the opportunity to sign the big Dutchman. Premier League defending Champions Chelsea have also made inquiries, but the Dutch only has his eyes on Anfield Stadium, and the transfer saga of the summer looks set to linger.
