Former Manchester United Man Explains Difference Between Chelsea and Man United Ahead Of FA Cup Game

David May is worried about Jose Mourinho’s side ahead of their trip to Stamford Bridge.

Former Manchester United defender David May is of the opinion that Chelsea have more firepower than United ahead of their FA Cup quarter-final game at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

Chelsea are in strong form this season so far and also successfully eased to a 2-1 win against West Ham United in the derby at the London Stadium earlier this week.

Belgium international Eden Hazard and Spanish star Diego Costa got on the score sheet to help the Stamford Bridge club get over the line and move Antonio Conte’s side 10 points clear of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United on the other hand have to endured a tough weekend following their return to Premier League action after a 3-2 win against Southampton in the EFL Cup final last month.

The Old Trafford club were left frustrated after their 1-1 draw with Bournemouth at home as Zlatan Ibrahimovic was retrospectively given a three-game suspension for violent conduct.

Swede star Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss their trip to Chelsea as he serves the first of his three-game ban.

And now, David May is quite concerned about his former club’s reliance on Ibrahimovic.

“I was impressed with Chelsea against West Ham United. For the first twenty minutes I thought they might falter but any [little] mistake led to pacy breaks and they have match-winners all over the pitch,”

“That is the difference between them and United: they spread the goals but after Zlatan you look at the next man down and there is quite a gap.”

“Going down to Stamford Bridge will be very different to earlier this season. Jose still hadn’t stamped his authority on the team and they were still playing in a Van Gaal-ish way trying to keep the ball. It will be a great game and it’s a toss of the coin. If United play as they can do I have every confidence they can get a result. Chelsea at the moment though are flying.” says May, speaking exclusively to 888sport.
