Alessio Romagnoli

AC Milan are reportedly ready to offer Alessio Romagnoli a new deal to fend off interest from Chelsea.

The Blues are believed to be interested in signing the young defender last summer after missing out on Napoli ace Kalidou Koulibaly and Juventus star Leonardo Bonucci.

Reports in Italian news outlet CalcioMercato claim that Milan are ready to end Chelsea’s interest by their latest efforts to make Romagnoli to extend his contract at the San Siro.

Although, the centre-back has admitted he was flattered by the interest from the Blues. He said: “The fact Chelsea came in for me is pleasing, but I’m glad I have stayed here.

“This pushes me on to grow even more and improve myself. I am happy to stay here.

“President Silvio Berlusconi made a big investment in me and that’s enormous.”

Romagnoli is considered to be one of the best young defenders in Europe and is being touted by most top European clubs with the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint Germaine also said to be ready to pounce on the 23-year-old defender.

Antonio Conte is keen to bolster his defence line and has recalled Nathan Ake from his loan deal with Bournemouth after his impressive performances for the Cherries.
