Nemanja Matic

New reports state that English premier League table leaders Chelsea are set to open contract talks with Nemanja Matic this summer.

Nemanja Matic has been in and out of Antonio Conte’s starting XI this current campaign as he keeps sharing his starts with Arsenal former captain Cesc Fabregas.

Frenchman N’Golo Kante has successfully cemented a place in Conte’s line-up, leaving the other position in the midfield up for grabs.

The Daily Mirror however reported that Conte sees Matic as an important part of his plans at the Stamford Bridge club.

It was said that the former Juventus manager wants to reward Matic for his efforts and will give the big man a new deal.

The West London club re-signed Matic, who played for them from 2009 to January 2011, for £21 million in 2014.

Matic has two and a half years remaining on his current deal at Chelsea.

Hazard Opens Up About Antonio Conte After 2-1 Victory

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has hailed manager Antonio Conte as a great guy after his side’s Monday night’s 2-1 victory at West Ham United.

Hazard scored his 11th goal of the 2016-17 Premier League season to break the deadlock in the 25th minute of the game.

The Belgium international received possession from Frenchman N’Golo Kante before he played a crisp one-two with Pedro Rodriguez which set him free with the West Ham goalkeeper to beat.

Hazard proved a constant thorn in the Hammers side as teammate Diego Costa extended the blues lead before West Ham scored a consolation goal in added time.

And Hazard speaking to Sky Sports about the influence of Conte on the Chelsea players, said:

“It’s easier for me to play more inside now and link up. Last season I was more out wide and there I am sometimes alone, against two guys.

“Antonio Conte is a great character and he helps us a lot.”
