Despite having talented midfielders at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte appears to be keen on bolstering his midfield department ahead of a busy campaign next season.

A handful of superb midfielders have emerged as targets for the premier league champions this summer, and one of them is Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso.

It is understood that the Stamford Bridge club were hoping to add to their midfield with the addition of the 22-year-old. Unfortunately, Chelsea have missed out on Tolisso’s signature.

A French news outlet Canal+ reveals that the midfielder is arriving Munich to undergo a medical ahead of a transfer.

It is understood that Chelsea have made a €35m bid to sign Tolisso this summer, but it appears as if German heavyweights Bayern Munich have beat them to his signature already.

In the just concluded season, in 47 appearances for his French club, he scored 14 goals and provided 7 assists and became one of the best young midfielders in Europe. He earned his first France cap back in March and his fine form had seen a handful of top clubs across Europe monitoring him at Lyon.

Apart from Chelsea, the likes of Juventus, Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City were also said to be interested in signing him. However, it appears Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are winners in the race for Tolisso’s signature, and other clubs will turn their attentions to other targets.
