Chelsea have made shock bid for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, according to reports.

Following reports that Antonio Conte is in the market for an attacking midfielder after the exit of Oscar to the Chinese Super League club, Shaghai SIPG.

Reports in Turkish-Football suggests that Chelsea have launched a shock move for Calhanoglu, with Conte ready to sign the 22-year-old this January.

Prior reports have it that the Blues were monitoring the Turkish midfielder due to his standout performance for the German side and his impressive free-kick abilities.

However, the Blues might encounter a stumbling block in their bid to sign the Algerian star after he admitted it would be hard to turn an offer from the Red Devils who are also understood to be very keen on bringing him to the Old Trafford.

He said: Barcelona and Manchester United are huge clubs it would be difficult to turn them down.

‘But I have not said anything about any transfers or anything of the sort.’

The Blues have been severally linked with different additions because Antonio Conte is very keen on signing reinforcements in the January window with reports that the Blues boss wants add cover for various positions in the current squad.
