Chelsea striker Diego Costa is set to sign a new contract extension that will keep him at the club till 2021.

Costa has been in an electric form for the Blues, scoring 13 goals so far this season and is set to be rewarded for his display with a new bumper deal at the Stamford Bridge.

Reports in the Daily Mail suggests that the club chiefs are impressed by the striker’s recent form and hope he signs another two-year extension to his current deal which ends in 2019.

Costa had earlier suggested he could leave the Blues last summer in favour of a return to his former club, Atletico Madrid following their poor defence of the Premier league title last season.

However, the 28-year-old is set to given a bumper pay rise in a bid to tie him on a long term. Costa who recently surpassed Didier Drogba’s number of matches to score 50 goals for Chelsea, reaching the milestone in 97 games compared to Drogba’s 135.

The 25-year-old striker’s form has shut the door on Michy Batshauyi who has been on the bench since he joined in the summer, which sparked speculations that the Belgian could be set to leave the Stamford Bridge on loan in search of active football but latest reports in the Telegraph claim that the Blues are set to reject advances for the 23-year-old despite his non-involvement on the pitch for the West London outfit.
