Chelsea Star Player Reveals How Disappointed He Was After Last Week Game

Chelsea continues their winning run in the premier league when they won Stoke City 2-1 away from home. It was an interesting game where Stoke thought they could share points with the Stamford Bridge club, but a late goal from Cahill changed everything.

However, before Cahill scored the late goal that gave Chelsea their 22nd win of the season at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon, his earlier push on Stoke star Jon Walters threatened to cost his side two points

Chelsea scored the opener before Stoke City equalised from the penalty spot, courtesy Gary Cahill who gave away the penalty.

And even though the 31-year-old was able to score the late winner, he admitted that he was disappointed in himself that he was involved in the opponent’s goal, in terms of the penalty.

He stated in the post-match that he felt he needed to make up for giving away the first-half penalty.

The England star, opening up on his goal,  told Chelsea TV that it just fell and he thinks it would have been harder to miss. He added that his eyes lit up when he saw the chance and he was delighted to stick it away.

Nevertheless, personally, I think players (especially defenders) should quit blaming themselves whenever they made any mistake that leads to a goal for the opponent (including a penalty). No one is above mistake, and if they are scared of not conceding a penalty and failed to tackle opponents appropriately, then I think it won’t be professional enough.

Chelsea will play one of their London rivals Crystal Palace up next on Saturday April 1.
