Anfield giants Liverpool have reportedly identified highly rated youngster Joe Gomez, who has been unlucky with injuries in the last two years, as a replacement for Brazilian star Lucas Leiva with the 29-year old linked to a January transfer move away from the Reds.

Lucas Leiva is the club’s longest serving player having joined from Gremio in 2007 however is time at the club could be up with a reported loan move to San Siro. Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan in the offing after he has only started three league games for the Jurgen Klopp’s side.

According to reports, Liverpool see Joe Gomez as a defensive replacement for Lucas Leiva. Former Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp is impressed with the 19-year old since he completely recovered from a long term knee injury as reported by Liverpool Echo.
