A new report from the Spanish club, Barcelona have disclosed that they never had the intention of selling Croatia international, Ivan Rakitic.

English football clubs, Liverpool alongside Man United and French club, PSG had shown interest in the 30 years old star but with a report from Barca sports director, Pep Segura, he made it know that they have never had the intentions of letting go of Ivan Rakitic.

This came after Diaro Sport had claimed Barca will sell the Croatia star after the world cup in Russia.

It was reported that PSG had shown a willingness to meet Barcelona release clause of £125 million for the 30-year-old.

However, Segura acknowledged there were foreign interest for Ivan Rakitic but he was never going to be sold.

Segura in a statement affirmed that Barca “ did not contemplate on his exit” for one moment.

He went on to say the importance of release clause in the Spanish league, he said the La Liga is ‘the only league with [mandatory] release clauses and the danger [that the clauses are triggered.]’

Rakitic in a post world cup statement revealed he heard rumours of interest in him from foreign clubs but he had decided he was not leaving Barcelona where he is happy to be.
