According to reports, Arsenal have been offered the surprise chance to sign Barcelona midfielder Rafinha for a transfer fee of about £27million.

The Brazilian is currently out of his club’s pre-season training squad due to injury, but may also be on his way out of the Catalan club this summer transfer window if a good enough bid is tabled.

The Gunners looked weak in the midfield last season as Granit Xhaka failed to spark in the Premier League after his transfer from Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach, while Aaron Ramsey and Francis Coquelin struggled for consistency.

Meanwhile, England midfielder Jack Wilshere went out on loan and could now leave the Emirate club permanently, giving Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger something of a headache in that central midfield position.

Brazilian midfielder Rafinha could now be available as a shocking option for Arsenal, as Barcelona seemingly don’t see him as a prominent part of their plans for the upcoming season, according to Sky Sports

The 24-year-old midfielder only started 14 La Liga games last campaign, but managed to score a respectable seven goals and provided two assists in all competitions, playing in various roles.

While the Catalans have publicly stated the midfielder is not for sale, Rafinha himself recently claimed he could be on his way out.
