Arsenal battling fierce rivals for Real Madrid star – not rodriguez

Arsenal are battling Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Real Madrid star Mateo Kovacic, according to reports.

The 23-year-old was a bit-part player for Real during their wonderful term in the La Liga and Europe.

Reports in Spanish outlet Diario Gol claims that a couple of clubs in Europe have signalled their interest in Kovacic, with the likes of Roma, Inter Milan and AC Milan all vying for his signature.

However, it is understood that the duo of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are battling out for the midfielder’s signature, with hopes of luring him with the prospects of playing in the Premier League.

The Croatian has been at the Santiago Bernabeu in the last two seasons but has not been able to break into the Frenchman’s plans due to the presence of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos both of whom have been tipped to make a move this summer.

Arsenal have continually shown their intent in the market with moves for several players in the transfer market, the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is understood to be keen on adding quality to his current squad this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be keen on building on last season’s success and will bring in several players to consolidate on their success, Spurs could also be ahead of their rivals, Gunners with their prospects of playing in the Champions League next season.
