Arda Turan

According to reports, Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan is set to stay at Camp Nou for one more season despite having been widely linked with a move away from Nou Camp during the current summer transfer window.

Premier League giant Arsenal, Serie A side Inter Milan and some clubs in the Chinese Super League have all been linked with his signature in recent months, but Sport reported that the Barcelona flop has finally opted to remain and fight for a starting shirt at the club.

The 30-year-old, joined Ernesto Valverde’s new side from rivals Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2014 after Barcelona agreed to pay €34m plus add-ons for his signature.

However, Turan couldn’t play until January 2015 due to the Catalan’s transfer ban and has since failed to impress at the Nou Camp.

The Turkey international playmaker netted 13 goals in 30 matches for the club last campaign, but various media reports have claimed that the Catalans want to sell him this summer transfer window after he was neglected by former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique toward the end of last season – failing to play a single minute of playing time since April.

Some months ago, The Times reported that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was planning a £25m bid to tempt him to the Emirate Stadium amid the potential exit of German Mesut Özil and Chilean Alexis Sánchez.
