Antoine Griezmann

New rumours have it that English premier league table leaders Chelsea FC are now set to challenge EPL rivals Manchester United for signing of Atletico Madrid star player Antoine Griezmann.

It was said that the Stamford Bridge club are set to rival the Old Trafford club for the signing of the French star by meeting the attacker’s £86 million release clause.

The France international is one of the most sought after players in the footballing world due to his superb skills and has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United. Nevertheless, a new report by the Independent revealed that Chelsea are also interested in signing the attacker.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone admitted previously that they may have no choice but to sell the player if his release clause is activated.

The west London club are now on track to win the Premier League title this current term and are firm favourites to lift the trophy come May. And despite that Conte currently has a strong team that seems to know how to win matches, it appears he wants to add more strength to his team and intend bringing in Griezmann.

This is Jose Mourinho’s first season at Manchester United and so far, he has performed above average. However, the former Real Madrid boss will seek to perform much better next season and he wants to add more power to his attacking side by signing Griezmann.

As summer approaches, Griezmann sure would receive lots of offers, and the duo of Chelsea and Man United would need to woo him if they truly want his signature.

So far this season, Griezmann has scored 14 times for Atletico Madrid in the La Liga and is the fifth-highest scorer in the Spanish top-flight.
