Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has shown interest in the idea of joining Barcelona this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The Spaniard has grown to become one of the best players at Old Trafford this summer, churning impressive displays and work-rate to help solve his side’s initial problems in the midfield area.

Reports in Spain have it that incoming Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has told the club to prioritize a summer move for Ander Herrera as he hopes to solve their problems in the midfield.

The Atletic Bilbao boss who has confirmed that he will quit his current job has been tipped to take over the position from Luis Enrique who is expected to leave the club at the end of the campaign.

AS have now claimed that Herrera is keen on uniting with Valverde who coached at Bilbao before his move to Old Trafford in 2013.

It is understood that the 57-year-old manager believes Herrera could add some steel to the Catalans 4-3-3 formation due to his impressive statistics with the Red Devils.

However, there are suggestions that Jose Mourinho might not allow the Spanish midfielder leave this summer after getting impressed with his performances last season and identifying as one of his key players.

Barcelona will be hoping to explore Herrera’s contract situation with just one year remaining on his current deal.
