£52m Rated Starman To Agree Chelsea Move. But Is He Good Enough?

Chelsea have been heavily linked with Spanish international and Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata right since last year.

Last month, Spanish media published a report claiming that Arsenal are favorites to sign the 24-year-old superstar, and that he is rated around €60 million (I.e £52million)

However according to latest reports, Chelsea now seem favorite to sign the striker, with the Telegraph claiming that he is ready to leave Real Madrid and expects to join Chelsea next summer.

The former Juventus striker has mainly warmed the bench under new French boss Zinedine Zidane – who has selected him 11 times in his starting XI so far.

The Telegraph revealed that Morata is a fan of Antonio Conte and the Italian boss wants him to replace Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge. But we wonder if he’s actually good enough to replace Costa.

Costa has without doubt been the driving force behind Chelsea’s title push this season. He has scored 15 league goals, and is just one less behind Lukaku.

However, Morata is faster than Costa and is also a versatile player who can play effectively on the left wing if needed.

But in the past few seasons though, Costa has proved to be the better goalscorer. In 103 games for Chelsea, Costa has scored 51 goals. Morata only scored 27 times in 93 appearances when he was at Juventus, and has scored 10 goals in 27 games for Real Madrid this season.

We think Conte should do all he could to keep Costa at Stamford Bridge because Morata might not be as effective as he was.
